I visited Value Plus, Rajpur road, Dehradun to buy a Haier single-door fridge. The salesman who showed me around was polite and helpful. However, the experience at billing was awful. The staff first asked me to pay ₹15,000 (fridge) + ₹600 (delivery) together. Since my transaction limit was exceeded, I asked my dad to transfer the amount. But then the staff told me to pay separately — by then, my dad had already paid the full amount. When I informed him, he walked off without saying a word, smacked his lips in frustration, and left us waiting without any update. Later, he returned and tossed the bill on the table. When my friend asked about the ₹600 delivery charge, he rudely replied, “Abhi aur kya karega? Kuch nahi. Jao.” Then my friend said what do you mean by jao? When we asked for clarification, he kept a nonchalant, dismissive attitude. As someone from Arunachal Pradesh, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was being treated differently because of how I look. Whether or not that was his intent, he made me feel extremely unwelcome. Very disappointing behavior from the billing staff.
